At Axos village, at the foot of Psiloritis mount we meet the two storey exhibition with more than a hundred sculptures, handmade works of art, all made from a hammer and a chisel. The most important figures are The lyre player, The Cretan Man, Grandpa and Grandma, Going to Fields, representations of nature (The eagle and the Serpent , the Cretan ibex), some religious subjects (Saint George Diskouriou, the Dance of Isaiah, the Farewell, social subjects (Patient) or mythology (the little Mermaid), etc.
The wax museum of “POTAMIANOS” includes 87 wax effigies, created in natural sizes, representing scenes from the history of Crete, right in the front of the eyes of the spectator.
In a specifically shaped for a museum, space of 700 square meters and decoration according to the themes, there are scenes appeared, such as Eleftherios Venizelos, Vitsentzos Kornaros, Arkadi Monastery, Domenico Theotokopoulos “El Greco”, Nikos Kazantzakis, and a lot of other forms, that are worth being remembered.
